OUR ALLOY WHEEL RIM REPAIR DISCLAIMER
Your wheel rim is with us at Sambo's Tyres due to a crack, typically caused by impact. While we didn’t cause the crack, and you likely didn’t either, wheel rims take a serious beating from the growing number of potholes on our roads.
If we’ve repaired your wheel and you hit another pothole, the weld will behave differently than the surrounding alloy. This means the impact force will be absorbed differently by the metal and alloys around the repair. As a result, a repaired wheel may suffer damage in the same spot as the repair because the welded area is smaller compared to the wider area of a new wheel rim. The force from an impact is less easily distributed across a smaller, repaired area of alloy.
A weld can never be as strong as the original cast, which is why, unfortunately, we cannot offer a warranty on any welds. The welded area will always be the weakest point on the rim, and given the state of our roads, it’s almost impossible to avoid all potholes.
